I think canopy beds make you feel like a princess! I live in Orlando, Florida where there is a castle! Let's look how you can bring it to your castle if you are like me and can't sew!
After we had the Queen size canopy bed delivered, it just seemed to need "something" more to be romantic and not so traditional. I do what many of you do: I go to pintrest looking for ideas. The common idea was just getting sheer drapes and weaving them across.
I truly did lay there for a week before going to bed and wakening up thinking how I could make a valance. It would be easy if I knew how to sew or if I enjoyed sewing. I would rather shingle a roof on a hot Florida afternoon to tell you the truth then to sew.
It was one of those last mornings I was thinking about measurements, how big is that area up there? It has to be the size of the mattress: queen size. Why then wouldn't a queen size bed skirt work? I sat straight up in bed and the whole idea was born!
Because not all my ideas are brilliant, and uncertain I decided to go to my local Goodwill store and grab a bed skirt! It happened to be 50% off that color of tag. This was the surprise I wanted to tell you: I scored a queen size bed skirt for 1.99. If it didnt work no biggie!
The first picture, I removed the white fabric. I left about an inch of fabric on the outside edge of the seam. Using doubled sided Velcro, I placed 2 inch strips where ever I felt like it. I'm not much for measuring. It's also how I cook! HAHA!
Then it was simple, hold the fabric bedskirt and stick the other side of tape to the frame where you placed the two inch strips. When you spring clean you can take down the valance and wash!
I bought 6 sheers and again put double sided Velcro to the bedskirt and pressed the 84 inch sheers in each corner and a place in the middle of the frame to give it the draped effect. Hope you have that "Wow!" feeling I did! Love to know if any of you do this or have added ideas!
I did rehang the valance so it doesn't hang so far away from the head of the bed on the frame. I was just so excited as a kid at Christmas, that I did it in a rush!
